Renato joined the Springfield Symphony Orchestra part time in 2007 as the Youth Orchestras Manager and became the full time SSO Director of Operations in 2008. A few years later, he also assumed the role of Orchestra Personnel Manager.
His love for music performance started as a young boy in his native Basel, Switzerland, where he performed the trombone for many years in a youth brass orchestra.
He regards the SSO as a cultural gem of the Pioneer Valley and western Massachusetts privileged to have beautiful Springfield Symphony Hall as its main performance venue.
Renato is also a licensed acupuncturist and for many years ran a private practice in the Boston area and in the Pioneer Valley.
He has two adult children who both were members of the Springfield Symphony Youth Orchestras. They have created successful careers in the music industry – his daughter in music marketing and his son as a classical musician.
Renato and his wife, Carol, have been residents of the Pioneer Valley for over 20 years.
