The Springfield Jazz & Roots Festival, known for its eclectic mix of jazz, blues, soul, and world music, has been a staple of the city’s cultural scene for years. The festival takes place again this year from July 20-22 with The SSO Chorus and members of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra joining the Avery Sharpe 400 Project for a performance that intertwines symphonic music with the inspirational spirit of jazz. Led by bassist and composer Avery Sharpe, the 400 Project celebrates the legacy of African-American history through a fusion of jazz, gospel, and soul.

We are delighted to be uniting with Mr. Sharpe once again after his recent performance at our inaugural Juneteenth concert. The Juneteenth program bridged the gap between classical and jazz to create a soulful musical experience. This collaboration at the Jazz & Roots Festival will create more moments that push the boundaries of musical expression, bringing together diverse artists and genres.
