Sounds of Springfield: Celebrating Art, Music, and Community in the Heart of the City

Something special is taking shape in the heart of downtown Springfield.

The Springfield Cultural Partnership’s Sounds of Springfield sculptures are officially on display in Tower Square Park, creating a unique outdoor experience that celebrates many sounds, stories, and creative voices that make our city so vibrant.

On August 5 from 4-8 PM, the community will come together to celebrate this incredible achievement for the arts and culture in Springfield, and to celebrate the Springfield Cultural Partnership’s 10th anniversary!

The evening will feature a variety of fun programming and unique organizations, making it an event for everyone to enjoy. And the Springfield Symphony Orchestra will be there with something truly special- a LIVE Musical Petting Zoo at 5:30 PM!

Visitors will have the chance to get up close and personal with real orchestral instruments, learn more about how they work, and even try their hand at playing them. Whether you’ve always dreamed of playing the violin, wondered what it feels like to hold a cello, or simply want to discover the sounds of the instruments you may have never experienced before, this is your chance!

And while you explore the Sounds of Springfield sculptures, you’ll discover that these two experiences have more in common than you might think. Both art and music invite us to slow down, engage our senses, and experience our surroundings in a new way.

Events like this are a powerful reminder of why arts and culture matter in our city. When art is brought into public spaces, it becomes accessible to everyone. You don’t need a ticket, a special invitation, or any previous experience to participate. You can simply walk through Tower Square Park, encounter something unexpected, and discover a new connection to creativity.

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is proud to be part of this celebration and grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Springfield Cultural Partnership on an event that highlights the incredible creative energy of our community.

Come celebrate 10 years of the Springfield Cultural Partnership, explore the Sounds of Springfield sculptures, meet some amazing local organizations, and discover the joy of making music yourself!
