Principal Timpanist Martin Kluger takes center stage in this week’s episode of our SSO Homegrown series. He talks about his role as a timpanist in an orchestra, and demonstrates how the timpani fits into some great orchestral works by William Schuman, Mahler, Mozart, Beethoven, Bartók, and Stravinsky. Along the way, you’ll hear some passages performed by the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, recorded live in concert in Symphony Hall.
