Kim Collins has been a performing artist and educator her entire life.  As a flutist, she has enjoyed a varied career that has included orchestral and chamber music, solo engagements, and performing as a pit musician both on Broadway and with nationally touring shows.  Kim has been performing with the SSO for over 25 years.

As an educator, Kim has held faculty positions at Choate Rosemary Hall, Fairfield University, the Hartt School Community Division, the Neighborhood School of Music, Southern Connecticut State University, in addition to directing her private music studio.  She has also been a guest teaching artist for the El Sistema-inspired Bravo! Waterbury program and has presented arts integration programs to students at schools throughout Connecticut and beyond.

On the administrative side, Kim spent several years as Orchestra Librarian with the SSO before moving on to a role as Director of Member Services with the CT River Valley Chamber of Commerce.  At the CRVC, she was the first point of contact for all member relations, led the Ambassador Team, and revised and refreshed member benefits, member onboarding and retention.  Kim also facilitated weekly networking and member orientation events, ran over 40 ribbon cuttings each year, and planned large events from golf tournaments to the Chamber’s annual three-day Apple Harvest and Music Festival in Glastonbury, CT.

Kim is looking forward to creating community connection in Springfield through the power of music.  She lives in South Glastonbury, CT with her husband Steve and their two amazing boys.
