The Janee Armstrong Friedmann Award
The Janee Armstrong Friedmann Award, established in March of 2007, recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves by their outstanding effort and achievement in furthering the mission of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra through governing, fundraising and volunteering. The award, administered by the SSO Development Committee, may be presented annually to one or more individuals, as deserved.
About Janee Armstrong Friedmann
Janee Armstrong Friedmann was a champion of arts and culture in the Springfield community. A dedicated SSO volunteer for over forty years, she served on many committees as well as the Board of Directors, of which she held the positions of Chairman and President. Over the years, she organized numerous special events, galas and fundraising initiatives. Janee was passionate about helping the Springfield Symphony Orchestra thrive, and she was equally passionate about the importance of voluntarism at all levels of the organization. The Janee Armstrong Friedmann Award is the embodiment of her commitment to the SSO and to our community.
