Health and Safety Update
(updated September 9, 2020)

In light of the rapidly changing climate surrounding mitigation of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and following specific guidance from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding gathering size, the SSO was forced to suspend the remainder of our 2019-2020 season through (and including) May 9, 2020. This temporary closure affected all remaining SSO performances, chamber concerts, youth orchestra performances, and education programs in the 2019-2020 season.

We apologize that circumstances forced us to take these measures. I am sure that this was as disappointing to you, our loyal patrons, as it was to us.

Currently, we are hard at work pursuing ways to keep the music playing until we are allowed to safely gather again in person. Check out what we anticipate to be the first of many virtual experiences, our Homegrown Video Series, and read more about our plans for the reimagined 2020-2021 season.

In an effort to be a good and responsible community neighbor, the SSO has temporarily closed its office at 1441 Main Street, Springfield, and all administration functions are operating remotely until further notice. Some additional notes about administrative functions during this time period:

  • The SSO’s physical box office at 1441 Main Street is currently closed – If you need assistance, please reach out to us at info@springfieldsymphony.org
  • You may reach SSO admin employees by email, although response time may be a bit slower than usual

We thank everyone for their patience and understanding during these uncertain times and look forward to welcoming the community back to our concerts and events as soon as possible.
