Symphony Tries to Usher in Warmer Months with Program Inspired by Spain and Greece

SPRINGFIELD, MASS., MAR. 31, 2017 — What better way to celebrate the coming of spring in New England—or at least the desire for it to come—than with a symphonic tour of the Mediterranean? SPRINGFIELD, MASS.,--MAR. 27, 2017—Again this spring, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra (SSO) will commemorate its long-standing commitment to Western Massachusetts with the Anything Goes Spring Gala. This year’s Gala will take place in the specular glass atrium of 1550 Main St., Springfield, Mass., and will include live music, a three-course meal, an auction and a ballroom dancing performance. The proceeds of the event provide funds to continue the SSO’s 73-year tradition of maintaining and developing high-quality artistic, education and community programming that enlightens and entertains audiences of all ages.

Rising Star Violinist Yevgeny Kutik to Join Springfield Symphony for Scottish Celebration

SPRINGFIELD, MASS, FEB. 28, 2017 — Scotland’s lochs and Highlands have captured the imagination of poets and artists for centuries, and on March 11, Scottish magic will come to Springfield Symphony Hall with the program “Scotland — a Celebration.” The evening’s performance will include three works inspired by the Scottish Isles, crafted by German composers Max Bruch and Felix Mendelssohn.
