Nights in the Gardens of Spain

Featuring Washington Garcia, Piano

Classical Concert
Saturday Apr 8th, 2017 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Kevin Rhodes, Conductor
Washington Garcia, Piano

Program:
LISZT Prometheus, S.99 (Symphonic Poem No. 5)
SAINT-SAËNS La Jeunesse d’Hercule, Op. 50
DE FALLA Nights in the Gardens of Spain - Piano Concerto
RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Capriccio Espagnol, Op. 34

Our spring of musical voyages continues, with works inspired by two magical countries on the Mediterranean Sea – Spain and Greece. Music of mythic proportions dominates the first half of the evening, with Liszt’s Prometheus and Saint-Saens’ Youth of Hercules. The program also features DeFalla’s Nights in the Gardens of Spain, with the talents of guest pianist Washington Garcia, in his SSO debut.
