Rescheduled Springfield Symphony Youth Orchestras Winter Concert
Rescheduled Due to Inclement Weather
The Springfield Symphony Youth Orchestras, already comprised of seasoned musicians, will perform their next concert in their season series on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017. The Winter Concert will help audience members break free from the winter weather with an emotional and educational journey.
“Music takes us on an emotional tour, from the light-hearted tunes of Offenbach's operetta, the somber Pavane by Ravel, the very traditional British Quick March and the stirring Procession of the Sardar. said Youth Sinfonia Conductor Marsha Hassett. “Allow the music to create images, take you to faraway places and thrill the senses.”
The 140 student musicians of the Springfield Symphony Youth Orchestra (SSYO), who will be performing in their Winter Concert on Feb. 12 at Minnechaug Regional High School, are as accomplished and polished as their professional name-sakes.
The Springfield Youth Orchestra, conducted by Jonathan Lam, and the Springfield Youth Sinfonia, conducted by Marsha Hassett, will be performing classical pieces from by well-known composers, including Vaughn Williams, Ravel and Mahler in their mid-season concert, and will continue to dazzle you with their talent and musicianship.
