The SSO commemorates Black History Month with this very special concert, highlighted by Gershwin’s immortal Porgy and Bess Concert Suite (featuring the Springfield Symphony Chorus and a superb cast of vocal soloists), and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joseph Schwantner’s New Morning for the World, a moving work featuring narration by renowned actor, Avery Brooks. During the 2015-2016 concert season, we look forward to featuring a series of Classical Conversations guest lecturers, for lively discussions & audience questions about that evening’s Classical concert program. On this evening, the discussion will be led by none other than our very own Maestro Rhodes! Classical Conversations discussions begin at 6:30pm in Symphony Hall, and are free to all ticket holders.
